Global Energy Governance – Problems, Pathways, and Next Steps
Original Program Date :
Length: 60 Minutes

Energy is at the heart of many of today’s most pressing problems. Whether it is energy demand growth from data centers, decarbonization of energy systems to mitigate climate change, or energy security to protect national energy systems against geostrategic vulnerabilities, one cannot avoid the topic. This webinar will explore the extent to which realizing any energy outcomes requires global cooperation. It will discuss the pitfalls of relying on energy cooperation in the current moment in time. It will address what tools we have available to de-risk global energy cooperation including importantly international dispute resolution mechanisms to give partners confidence in the bargains they have struck. It will explore what can be done to strengthen them to make national and global energy systems more affordable, reliable, resilient, and sustainable.
