Interactive Ethics for the Oil Patch
Original Program Date :
Length: 45 Minutes

“Interactive Ethics for the Oil Patch” presents hypotheticals based on past opinions of the Texas Committee on Professional Ethics and American Bar Association Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility that relate to the oil and gas field.  Each hypothetical is followed by an interactive question so that attendees can apply their knowledge of professional responsibility rules and guess what was decided.  The correct answer to each question is accompanied by a discussion of the decision and the professional responsibility rules at issue.  Some of the hypotheticals discussed include whether a corporation can “loan out” in-house counsel to its subsidiaries, and ethical considerations for practicing attorneys who concurrently serve as partners in an oil and gas business.
