Kelsey Machado counsels clients on complex commercial litigation matters with a focus in energy. She has experience representing clients in state and federal courts litigating in various areas, including oil and gas, construction, maritime, employment, consumer protection, trademark infringement, breach of contract disputes and other general business litigation matters.
Kelsey’s trial experience includes participating in three jury trials and a seven-day arbitration as second chair. Recently, Kelsey obtained a favorable jury verdict for her client in a commercial dispute pending in a Texas federal court. Kelsey has also been involved in several construction disputes ranging from a natural gas pipeline project in Oregon to a senior care living facility located in Houston. Kelsey is well-versed in drafting and arguing dispositive motions, managing discovery, conducting witness interviews, preparing and presenting witnesses for depositions and trials, and mediation and settlement negotiations.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Kelsey was an associate at a boutique commercial litigation law firm in Houston. Her previous experience includes serving as a judicial intern for Judge Lynn N. Hughes in the Southern District of Texas.
