Travis Gery

Travis Gery is a counsel in the Harrisburg office of K&L Gates LLP.  He is a member of the firm’s global Investigations, Enforcement and White Collar practice group.  His practice focuses on government investigations, internal investigations, white-collar defense, corporate compliance, and counseling corporations and individuals responding to government investigations.  He also litigates complex matters in federal and state court as well as before various administrative tribunals.  He previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney, a Deputy Attorney General in the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, and a Chief Deputy District Attorney.

Mr. Gery previously served as the Executive Director and Counsel to the PA Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure committee.  Prior to his role in the Senate, the Governor appointed and the Senate confirmed Mr. Gery to serve as Commissioner of Professional and Occupational Affairs.  Prior to his appoint as Commissioner, he served as the Executive Deputy Chief Counsel of the Commonwealth’s Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.  As Executive Deputy Chief Counsel, Mr. Gery supervised and directed a staff of 53 attorneys and was responsible for the investigations and prosecutions of professional licensees for violations of the various practice acts and regulations.

As an Assistant United States Attorney, working with agents of the FBI, DEA, Secret Service, and other federal and state law enforcement agencies, he directed the investigations and prosecutions of individuals and organizations engaged in criminal activity including drug trafficking and money laundering.  As a Deputy Attorney General in the Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering section, Mr. Gery worked with both federal and state law enforcement agencies investigating and prosecuting individuals and organizations engaged in complex criminal activity.  He also provided training to the PA State Police, agents of the Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigations, and local police on conducting money laundering and other complex investigations.  As a Chief Deputy District Attorney, Mr. Gery was in charge of the multi-agency Drug Task Force and the Auto-theft and Insurance Fraud Task Force.

As a former AUSA, DAG, and CDDA, Mr. Gery has extensive grand jury and trial experience.  He has tried over 75 cases to verdict in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Gery served as a Judge Advocate in the United States Navy for 28 years (3 years on active duty followed by 25 years in the selected reserve) and retired with the rank of Commander.  He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (3), the Navy Commendation Medal (3), and the Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (3).
