As Principal Scientist, Biofuels at Chevron Renewable Energy Group (CREG), Dave Slade focuses on technical topics throughout CREG’s biofuel production and distribution network. Dave created CREG’s Technical Services department that works to uphold and continuously improve product quality and production efficiency at CREG’s biorefineries. He also leads CREG’s research and development efforts exploring new feedstock pathways, improving co-product opportunities, and developing technology advancements in bio-based diesel production and utilization. For the past 17 years, Dave has provided technical expertise to engine manufacturers, transport fleets, railroads, and other diesel fuel users as they incorporate renewable options into their fuel programs and also to city, state and federal agencies.
Dave has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas and a Master’s degree from the University of California, Davis. He started working for CREG in early 2007 and has enjoyed being in the world of fuels throughout the many changes its associated industries have experienced since then. He has become widely recognized as a bio-based diesel expert thanks to his long tenure, high activity level, and broad and deep experience in the field.
