Elyse is an associate in the Columbus, Ohio office of Thompson Hine LLP where she is a member of the firm’s Environmental practice group. She regularly advises clients on regulatory compliance involving due diligence, permitting and enforcement. She has extensive experience in handling matters pertaining to the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, hazardous and solid waste regulation under CERCLA and RCRA, underground storage tank regulations and the Clean Air Act, among others. Elyse is an experienced litigator who regularly represents clients in complex state and federal litigation, as well as before environmental boards of review. Elyse is also a seasoned attorney in the renewable and traditional energy spaces, with experience siting projects, litigating before the Ohio Power Siting Board, and counseling developers looking to remake Ohio’s energy landscape.
She previously served as an assistant attorney general in the Environmental Enforcement Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s office, where she represented the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in federal and state court. Prior to that, Elyse served as a Law Clerk to Judge Michael J. Newman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. While in law school Elyse completed clerkships with both Ohio EPA and U.S. EPA’s Region III Office of Regional Counsel.
