Erin Murphy is the Vice President – General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Legacy Reserves Inc., an independent energy company engaged in the development, production, and acquisition of oil and gas properties in the Permian Basin, East Texas, Rocky Mountain and Mid-Continent regions.
Prior to joining Legacy, Erin worked as a Managing Attorney for Ovintiv USA Inc. (fka Encana), where she provided legal and strategic advice to US and Canadian Operations, Land, EH&S, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain Management, Business Development, and other corporate stakeholders regarding a large variety of transactional, operational, regulatory, and litigation matters. Before going in-house Erin worked at the private law firm Davis, Graham & Stubbs in Denver, Colorado in their natural resources and litigation departments.
Erin received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, graduating summa cum laude, and double-majoring in Legal Studies and Political Science. She attended law school at the University of Wyoming College of Law, graduating Order of the Coif and serving as a publisher and editor for the Wyoming Law Review.
In her spare time Erin serves as a volunteer and Executive Board member for Can Do Multiple Sclerosis, a national non-profit organization dedicated to delivering health and wellness education programs to those living with MS and their families.
