Matt Simmons is a Land Supervisor with Continental Resources, Inc. In this role, Matt is responsible for managing land professionals working within Continental’s Northern Region who perform a wide array of land functions such as leasing projects, acquisitions, divestitures, non-operated well activities and regulatory actions. Matt has acted as a corporate representative in litigation on behalf of Continental. Prior to Continental, Matt worked for Chesapeake Energy Corporation spending most of his time there as a Landman in Chesapeake’s South Texas Business Unit. Matt’s ten years in oil and gas have allowed him to perform a variety of land duties for producing assets across the United States, including in Oklahoma, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas, Montana, and North Dakota.
Prior to joining the oil and gas industry, Matt was an Agent for the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and, in this capacity, he worked with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Matt has provided sworn testimony in State and Federal court as well as proceedings before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
Matt received his B.A. from Mississippi State University in 2002 and his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 2007. He is a Certified Professional Landman and is licensed as an attorney in the States of Mississippi (inactive) and Kansas (active).
